The Hurt Locker: A review

The Hurt LockerThere are many unsung heroes in every battlefield who smilingly give away their lives for the honor and dignity of their nations, even knowing that none would come to acknowledge their great service and they would remain unidentified. The Hurt Locker is a story of some such unsung heroes who rise in the worst odds, and do beyond belief things at the most dangerous places of the world.

The Hurt Locker is quite fascinating and suspenseful in which the courage of unsung heroes like bomb technicians has been nicely depicted under the shadows of fire and death. The movie is based on the real experience of well known journalist and screenwriter Mark Boal who performing his duty as a journalist near EOD or the Explosive Ordnance Disposal squad which was battling against insurgents in Baghdad to make it a safe place for the citizen and Americans as well.  But it wasn’t an easy task at all, as there is no margin of error in a war-zone for a sensitive thing like deactivating a bomb.

The story revolves around the three members of this squad whose mission is quite simple and clear cut, as they want to protect others from the dangers of bombing. How does danger and combat affect human psyche? That’s what which has been nicely depicted in that movie. No doubt, Kathryn Bigelow, the visionary director, has succeeded to nicely bring the intimate human nature and stunning action together. The rest of good is impressively done by its impressive cast consisted of Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brain Geraghty and David Morse, Ralph Fiennes and Evangeline Lilly guest appearance.

Mark Boal, Kathryn Bigelow, Nicolas Chartier are the producer of the movie, while Karl Juliusson is the production designer of the movie. Bob Murawski, Chris Innis, George little and Marco Beltrami, Paul N.J Ottosson and Barry Ackroyd are some other members of the Hurt Locker crew.

Bravo Company specialist Owen Eldridge and Sergeant JT Sanborn come to the war volatile center in 2004 summer. This force has been particularly trained to control homemade bombs that caused nearly 50% deaths of the Americans in the country as well as thousands of Iraqis. It was really a challenging job that left no margin of errors for the members of that squad. They realized that fact very well when they lost their team leader in such a mission.

After losing their leader, Staff Sergeant William James has lots of responsibilities on his shoulders as a new team leader. Eldridge and Sanborn, the two other higher members of the team seemed what are quite similar to thoughtless disrespect for protocol and standard safety measures. To make their leader understand, the guys have little time, as they will soon be in the chaotic streets of Baghdad. With their each new mission, these guys learnt the nature of fear and the new ways of handling dangers in challenging situations.
