Just like many busy as bee financial executives, Evan Danielson (Eddie Murphy) has so badly stuck in his daily busy routine that he hardly finds any time to spend with this daughter Olivia (Yara Shahdi), but when his career spiraling down becomes inevitable, Olivia comes to her father’s rescue and takes him to her dreamful imaginary where Eddie finds the solutions of all his problems by discovering his inner kid once again.
Eddie Murphy appears in the movie as a new Jim Carrey in the unconventional family comedy. Though earlier in his career, Eddie had some absolute mixed results, but you would find this movie quite a lot in Eddie’s wheelhouse, as it gives him an opportunity to show his strength as a really impressive performer. One the other hand, Yara Shahdi (Olivia) seems to give as good as she gets from Eddie. Such efforts have also proved effective recently, but it is more playable movie than any other such effort and it’s all because of Eddie and Yara’s forceful performance.
In different movies busy as bee dads, who can’t spend much time with their families and kids, are common figures, and Imagine That also starts with such a sense, but what quickly takes the story towards a fresher ground on, is Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon screenplay who are Olivia’s imaginary friends.
Evan Danielson (Eddie) seems quite skillful in juggling various computer screens at a moment along with mobile phones and clients, but what it can’t hear is his 7 year old daughter Olivia. Then one day he finds some time for her where she seems to give Danielson some highly intuitive advices on many different issues, but in actual these advices come from Olivia’s imaginary friend and not from her. These imaginary friends are two princesses and one queen who reside in a magical kingdom along with a dragon.
The advices prove very effective for Evan and he got a lesson of spending quality time with his daughter is really a fruitful experience that provides him a nice solution for his various problems.
